Hakuouki Shinsengumi Kitan Season 1

Okay, this is the anime review for Hakuouki Shinsengumi Kitan, which is one of those historical anime with only a little twist in the story to make it more interesting.

This 12-episode anime, however, is only the first season in its budding stages and has a longer story to tell. We don't know when it's coming out in M'sia, but we'll be waiting for it :)

It starts off with Yukimura Chizuru looking for her father, a doctor, in Kyoto. While searching, she is chased after what is called an Oni *which means ghost/monster in Japanese* and is saved only by mere seconds by the Shinsengumi, who consist of very very beautiful bishonen :)

Realizing there was a witness to the murder of an Oni, the Shinsengumi catch her and take her into custody, deciding what to do with her. Many options centered around her eventual death, but things change when they find out she's looking for the doctor they were also searching for.

It was then decided the Shinsengumi will search alongside her for the missing doctor.

Chizuru befriends many people throughout the anime such as Sano, Keisuke, Shinpachi, Heisuke and eventually makes friend out of Souji *the first unit captain*, Saitou *the third unit captain* and also Hijikata Toshizo, also nicknamed Oni-Fukuchou *Monster Vice-Captain*, partner of Kondo Isami, who was commander of the Shinsengumi.

Of course, history is history and many factual incidents such as the Ikedaya Affair which prevented the fire in Kyoto and the Boshin War was mentioned :)
