歌がいいかな?

Today's million-dollar question: What makes a good birthday present?

*          *          *

Ola :)

Don't you just hate birthdays, sometimes? Especially if that particular someone has the money to buy anything you can give. Not to say I hate birthdays and that I feel it's my obligation to buy a present: I want to buy one, but sometimes you're at a loss at what to give, you know?

That's why I believe in making stuff for the person instead. You know, something that only I can give with my 'talent'. Ugh, when I wrote that, I suddenly thought: "What if I wrote her a song?" Would that be too personal? Feels like it. Plus, if I have to perform it for her in front of everybody, I think I'd die of embarrassment.

...

So why do I still feel like doing it?

...

Be right back >.<

*Pause*

Okay, I have officially finished the birthday song. I'll post it up on Lyric Haven >.< Amazing that I finished it so soon, eh?

Anyways, I woke up at 8:55a.m today (or was it 8:59a.m, I can't remember. All I remember is thinking that there's no point in going back to sleep). Though, I only woke up because my mom woke me up. You see, I slept in the music last night because it was really late and I didn't want to wake my aunt up.

So after waking up, I went to freshen up then finished watching my anime. Fastforwarded it so I could finish it as soon as possible. After that, I watched two Kamisama Hajimemashita AMVs before having siew mai for lunch.

Oh, I guess you wouldn't know because I haven't blogged in a while, here's a list of incomplete manga that I'm currently following:

(a) Kamisama Hajimemashita
(b) Horimiya
(c) Hirunaka no Ryousei
(d) Hibi Chouchou
(e) Taiyou no Ie

Yeah, I know. Option (c) is on a roll, by the way.

I actually spent a huge chunk of my spare time reading (a) yesterday. It's so bloody cute. I'd heard of it before but until yesterday, it didn't appeal to me. However, when I started, I couldn't stop reading.

For some reason, I also like Marianas Trench's "Haven't Had Enough" -.-

That was random.

After eating, I studied until it was time for dinner. Scrambled two eggs, made Milo and drank iced water. After, I went back up and drafted my post for today. Unfortunately, I can't remember when I started so I don't know how long it took for me to write the song for Lex.

Yeah, it's for her.

I hope she likes it.

Okay, then. Nothing else from me >.<

Suisei no Gargantia

Woot~

Finally, an anime review for Suisei no Gargantia!! This is the first mecha anime I've followed till the end. I've tried Gundam before, since I thought it should be tolerable, but I was wrong.

I guess for an uncultured mecha-ite, taking on hardcore mecha is a little too adventurous.

Either way, this anime is fantastic.

Ledo (actually I prefer "Red" but this is not about my preferences so...) is a young ensign from the Galactic Alliance of Humankind who fights the Hideauze race in space. They kind of have a home up in space. Apparently they decided Earth could not be habited because of the fourth ice age. They explain this further in the anime so if you watch it then you'll understand.

So Ledo and the other fighters, who do so using Machine Calibers, were fighting Hideauze when their failed attempt at intruding on their (the Hideauze) home base causes Ledo to crash land on Earth. When he wakes up, he realises he's been in a state of cryostasis for 6 months while his wounds healed.

He was found by a community of humans who lived in large ships. The one he landed on was Gargantia, ruled by a Commander by the name of Fairlock and others.

In his quest to figure out how to get back to the Galactic Alliance, he learns to adapt to the new surroundings and customs, like what they do when it rains or their system of salvaging stuff from the bottom of the sea.

He meets Amy, a 15-year-old messenger, too, though in a rather unconventional way >.<

This story is technically about the ups-and-downs in Ledo's time on Gargantia while the story progresses. Don't worry, the plot thickens by the episode and I guarantee that when the anime ends, you will be satisfied.

That is, of course, if you like that kind of happy-ever-after.

Guess it depends, then :P

I personally enjoyed this anime right from the start to the end. I believed that this 13-episode anime could have lasted a longer time, but I guess they're making it up with a second season, right?

Yes, by the way, a second season has been confirmed. Now all I gotta do is wait >.<

Here are the voice actors/actresses!!

Ledo *Ishikawa Kaito*
- Taku (Suki-tte Ii Na Yo)
- Manatsu Souda (RDG: Red Data Girl)
- Tsumugu Kihara (Nagi no Asukara)
- Saitou Mao (Super Seishun Brothers)

Amy *Kanemoto Hisako*
- Katsuragi (Sekirei ~ Pure Engagement)
- Nozomi Kujo (Bleach)
- Ogawa Chizuru (Suki-tte Ii Na Yo)
- Kotoura Haruka (Kotoura-san)

Chamber *Sugita Tomokazu*
- Kagami Mikage (Ceres: Celestial Legend)
- Renkotsu (Inuyasha)
- Onizaki Takuma (Hiiro no Kakera)
- Arcana Famiglia (Pace)

Striker *Fujimura Ayumi*
- Zelda (Astarotte no Omocha)
- Kannagi Ayano (Kaze no Stigma)
- Ayuzawa Misaki (Maid Sama)
- Ozawa Haruka (Shinrei Tantei Yakumo)

I know, surprising right? I didn't expect that Ledo and Amy would have also worked together in Suki-tte Ii Na Yo! It's so cute!

That's it, then.

Suisei no Gargantia Ep 12-13

Suisei no Gargantia Ep 12
Suisei no Gargantia
Moment of Decision

So where were we?

Oh right, Pinion the Jackass decided to sign with Kugel's ship and work on board it so he can have access to cool gadgets.

My opinion of him had never been lower.

Obviously Lukkage thought so too, because she commented that she didn't know he was so cheap.

I've never liked her more XD

It was at this moment, with the gleam in her eye, that she tells Pinion she'll be planning some sort of rebellion. Of course, we're all wondering if Pinion will be a part of it.

Red, on the other hand, as he goes through the biggest dilemma he's ever had to in life, sees a chipmunk that resembled Grace, Amy's pet squirrel.

He chases after it, of course, and for a moment I also thought that Amy was onboard.

After a closer look, I realised the chipmunks had some differences. He, eventually, noticed too.

It suddenly starts raining, and Red remembers all the things the people on Gargantia did when it started raining.

As he was busy thinking back, though, these people had a custom of their own.

It's too disgusting to type, so you'll have to watch to decipher for yourselves.

It's at this moment in the episode that Pinion decides to say "SCREW IT!" and join Lukkage's rebellion, though. (He didn't actually say those words, but you get what I mean)

Red also starts thinking hard about what he really wants to do. He consults Chamber, which I think is so cute.

Melty, however, had a mission of her own. Under orders, more specifically Red's, she was to notify Gargantia of the impending attack.

While Ridget and the others think that retreat is the best solution for the time being, Amy interrupts them, asking them why is it when Red who wasn't part of Earth in the first place, fighting a war meant for them.

That sure got them thinking.

Red, now also part of Lukkage's rebellion, decides to confront Kugel and Striker, his robot.

Naturally, the fight was super intense.

I was practically shaking in my seat. And frankly speaking, looking at all these photos is making me eager to watch it again.

Aha~ The cliffhanger for Episode 12 was beyond anything like any other.

I shan't say it here, though, I'll leave it for the next half of this post :)

But for now, this is where it stops.

Suisei no Gargantia Ep 13
Legend of the Verdurous Planet

Okay, so from the pictures, I'm sure you can see that Kugel's actually dead

After finding out, Striker decides to 'let the cat out of the bag' and tell Red that he's been dead for a while now, although the cause of his death was never explained.

Red was pretty pissed because it made him realise that he was being confused over what a robot was saying about duty and shit like that.

Naturally, he felt like destroying Striker more than ever.

With Pinion, Lukkage has finally gotten her Surfing Lobster back on the seas and starts kicking butt.

Pinion also controls the machines and starts blasting stuff away.

The fight with Striker gets more intense as we get deeper and deeper into the episode.

Over here, we can see that by the bottom right picture, Red is getting ready to make a life-changing decision.

And he does.

So what is his 'life-changing' decision? He initiates this neural battle combat technique system that allows him to fight as Chamber

It significantly increases his power and everything, but at the expense of the user's life.

So, technically, Red will die

As they continue fighting, though, Amy comes into the picture.

I don't remember what importance she played in appearing at this point, but she did, so...

Yeah~~

Meanwhile, Ridget and the rest on Gargantia are getting ready to use another awesome weapon they kept hidden from everybody.

It made loads of explosions too. The sky was a beautiful tint of red.

Back with Red, his life is about to deteriorate to nothing when he starts thinking about Amy.

Thinking about how much he wanted to see her again and how although he is willing to die to save his friends, a part of him wants to survive and stay in Gargantia like how they used to.

This is when Chamber becomes the main character momentarily.

The angel Chamber actually ejected Red from the cockpit, saying that he was 'relieved from duty' as he was incompetent.

Haha!

He then single-handedly beat Striker like a drum, though at the cost of his own robot-life.

Everything was resolved then. Red couldn't believe that Chamber had done all that to save him, but he was thankful nonetheless.

And so, like that, the war with Kugel's army ended and Red was saved.

On a side note, Pinion decided to keep his hairstyle. And Lukkage also joined Gargantia. Well, actually many of Kugel's leftovers went over to live on Gargantia.

Bebel became an archeology lecturer. Lord knows if he has the qualifications, but hey, they gotta start somewhere, right?

And lastly, the moment I've been waiting for since I decided I loved Suisei no Gargantia, Amy and Red's happy-ever-after >.<

Red became somewhat of an expert salvager and he can even do it without disturbing the Hideauze now. He hopes that one day, they'll be able to communicate with them.

-.- Good luck.

So that's how Suisei no Gargantia ended! Wonderful episode, wasn't it? The battle between Kugel and Gargantia lasted an entire episode! Actually, it would be more than that, considering the previous episode already had part of the battle in it.

Do you know what this means?

This anime has a better war event than Twilight -.-

Special tribute to Chamber
It was such a great thrill following this anime as it ran through all the episodes. I'm also glad that Suisei no Gargantia's the first anime in which I've completed full episodical reviews (although I only started from Episode 3).

I'm also ecstatic to announce that there has been an OVA release, and that another one will be coming up soon on October 25th. It's my further delight to declare that a second season for this epic anime has been confirmed, although we don't know exactly when the release date is yet.

So psyched!!

That's it, then :)

Suisei no Gargantia Ep 11

Suisei no Gargantia Ep 11
Suisei no Gargantia
Supreme Ruler of Terror

Alright, so this episode starts off Captain Whatshisface making an oh-so-important appearance on Earth.

Naturally, Red is ecstatic at being able to see him. The feeling is most likely mutual.

On the other hand, Pinion still thinks he's got the stuff to beat him, so he tries his luck and shoots something at the Captain.

Obviously, to no avail. He just bounced one right back.

I'm sure you can see from the bottom right picture that the shot took a huge part of their boat off.

After understanding the difference in their power, we meet the people onboard the Captain's ship.

Don't-get-me-started.

Red officially meets Captain Kugel after that. However, he only met his hologram, apparently because the Earth's air was doing more damage to him.

No idea why.

Pinion meets an old acquaintance too. Again, from the bottom right picture, I don't think I need to tell you who.

Apparently the whole inviting-Pinion-over thing was to get him to agree to being their engineer, since they have a lot of new technology that can be used to develop improved weaponry.

Pinion, the greedy ass, agreed, though learning that he had to sign an agreement and have all the other crew members conform made him think something was up.

Meanwhile, Red was being 'brainwashed' by Kugel. This is because Kugel believes that the only to maintain supremacy is by establishing authority.

Explains all the zombie-followers -.-

Anyways, Red is in for a real surprise when he realises Kugel's next target is...

Gargantia.

That's pretty much what went down in this episode. Really interesting, this was. There was definitely a major development in the plot, with the arrival of Kugel. Not to mention, they made it clear that Kugel was all for exerting dominance unto the citizens of Earth and making them as brain-dead as his followers.

In this episode you can also see that, even though Red was as uptight as Kugel when he first arrived, he's no longer as strong a supporter for violence as he was previously. This shows that staying in Gargantia changed him.

And duh, we all know it's for the better XP

What the hell, I still think this was an awesome shot of Lukkage XD
I was dying waiting in anticipation for this episode because I wanted to know who was Kugel and how he was doing.

However, now I just wished Kugel never appeared -.-

Unfortunately he did.

Either way, I had a funny feeling that their next target would be Gargantia. It's just something you can sense. It's still interesting, though. I wanted to kill myself waiting for the next episode.

Ooh, and, I don't care if this makes me sound like a girl, but I loved it when Red saw Amy after he realised Kugel's target was Gargantia. Just shows how much he loves her >.<

Watch out for the last two episodes!! They'll be in the same post :)

Suisei no Gargantia Ep 10

Alright, I'm going to start cutting to the chase because I don't want to waste time, so here's the review for:

Suisei no Gargantia Ep 10
Suisei no Gargantia
Island of Ambition

Picking up from where the episode left off from Episode 9, after figuring out what was on the disk, Red became very...

What's the word for it?

It's not 'lifeless', but he just seemed really confused and in a state of disbelief.

Pinion, on the other hand, after figuring out that Red had helped discovered a whole new array of weaponry, decided to broadcast to the entire world that he had 'em.

From here on out, you'd really start hating Pinion for being the dick that he is. Even if his intentions were not all bad, he's still an asshole.

At one point, Red starts thinking about everything that he has done so far under the alliance's orders. He's beginning to question all the things that he's done, whether or not they were for the right reasons.

So naturally, he'd snap when Pinion disturbs him. Honestly, Pinion deserved it, the stupid blonde -.-

Back at Gargantia, Ridget and the others are wondering if Pinion was really thinking when he was sending a radio message to the rest of the ships that he had found new weapons.

Bebel and the doctor are, of course, worried too, though I'm sure for different reasons.

And naturally, there would be a part of the episode dedicated to our loving heroine

She wasn't crying or anything, but Saaya was there to comfort her anyways. She even suggested the Amy go to where Red was, but Amy declined, to her relief.

On the other hand, Pinion was getting full of himself blasting ships away and making slaves of all the losing crew.

I really hated his guts here. How stupid could he get, really?

Dunce as he may be, though, Pinion knows when a man is feeling down, so he decides to cheer Red up.

Many people aboard their ship were glad. I don't think they felt it because they had new weapons, though.

Either way, Red couldn't really enjoy himself

He gets a flashback again, and this time he was thinking about the boy that looked like him.

Not long after, Pinion gets the rival who can finally kick his ass.

And I'm sure I don't need to tell you where the rival is from.

I know, I know, it was expected. Well, at least, I expected it. I knew that one day, someone would have to make a move. It was either Red leaving Earth, or them settling on it.

So it was the latter?

This episode was a more relaxed one. The only important things that happened was the new weapons that Pinion salvaged, how he used those weapons and the arrival of another of Red's colleagues.

When he had a flashback of the young boy who looked like him, something got me thinking, though. How is it he can't remember who he is and what relationship he shared with the boy although he knows he's seen him before?

10 episodes in and we still don't know?? Come on!!

Look out for episodes 11, 12 and 13! A possible post-together, just so you know!!

Suisei no Gargantia Ep 9

Before anyone says anything, I just want to say: "At least I'm getting started on it."

Yeah, so anyways, here's the review for:

Suisei no Gargantia Ep 9
Suisei no Gargantia
Deep Sea Secret

So this episode is all about what happens after Red and the others decide to leave Gargantia!

Pinion's obviously super excited with everything because he can finally 'salvage' whatever is at the bottom of the sea where the Hideauze live.

I'm guessing Red is quite indifferent at this point.

Pinion has a flashback, however, halfway into the episode. He starts reminiscing about his brother (whose name escapes me, I don't think it was ever mentioned O.O).

Seems nasty, though, to have to accept the reality that your brother/sibling was devoured by something as twisted as the Hideauze.

-.-

Alright, so Red technically wipes out all the Hideauze there are in the area.

He found like a whole bunch of them – I think they were eggs – and used Chamber to vapourise 'em.

O.O

Midway through, he manages to find something hidden in a crate somewhere and asks Chamber to see if any information may be salvaged.

I shan't tell you the contents of the disk, otherwise this whole thing would be redundant. It's a review, not a spoiler -.-

Yeah, Red wasn't too pleased about what he found, and neither would I.

He's finally learnt the truth behind the alliance he's from, and from the expressions on his face, you can tell he's really pissed and confused.

Meanwhile, our beloved Amy and Bebel are lounging around back at Gargantia without much of a care in the world

:)

Other than the fact that whatever was in the disk was exposed, this was quite a laid-back episode. Much of the episode-time was used up explaining the stuff in the disk so you'll have to watch in order to feel the full 24 minutes XD

Either way, this was a pretty okay episode. For one, it didn't focus so much on Amy, which is a relief from her in the previous episode where she was wailing-but-not-doing-anything-drastic-to-stop-Red.  Also, we got information on Hideauze, man!!

Truthfully speaking, I kind of predicted what was on the disk. It's quite predictable in that sense because most sci-fi stories would have some kind of weird-ass experiment in between, right?

Oops, don't wanna spoil it too much for you, eh?

Look out for episode 10, 11, 12 and 13! There's a high chance I might group them together so I can save time and post space XD
