The Avengers

Hallelujah, finally, the review for The Avengers.

Sometimes, you have to think that all their movies were produced just so they could direct this movie. Think about it:

Hulk - Hulk
Iron Man - Iron Man
Iron Man II - Black Widow & Hawkeye
Thor - Thor & Loki
Captain America - Captain America

It'd be just way too weird to have Captain America or Thor appear out of thin air without giving the dude a proper introduction, right?

Either way, this movie really outdid itself. It doesn't matter if you don't like action movies or find Robert Downey Jr unbelievably insufferable in his movies. You'd at least have to watch it for its humour and awesome effects.

Long story short, Loki (Thor's infamous adopted brother) steals the Tesseract (a small powerful box) and uses it for evil purposes.

...

Big surprise there -.-

Nick Fury reactivates the Avengers Initiative in response. Banner, Stark, Romanoff and Rogers are assembled to capture Loki.

However, after Loki was taken captive, Thor comes to Earth to bring him back to Asgard where Loki will face his punishment according to Asgardian rules. Stark refuses to let him have his way so the two of them fight. Rogers comes to the "rescue".

After Thor comes to his senses (if in existence), he explains that Loki intends to use the Tesseract to bring forth more of his minions, the Chitauri, to launch an attack and dominate the Earth.

As the story goes along, the team falls apart and divides due to the lack of trust between the members. In the end, they finally band together and kick Loki's ass.

Honestly, I liked this movie very much. Of 5 stars, I'd give it 4 and 1/2. The only thing that confused me was the last part when Loki woke up (from being tossed around by Hulk like a sack of potatoes) and Hawkeye directed an arrow at him?

Did he actually shoot the arrow? And if he did, why wasn't Loki hurt when he and Thor were heading back to Asgard with the Tesseract?

Oh well, nothing major, I guess.

If I had to choose which heroes I liked in descending order, it'd be:

1. Iron Man (for his humour)
2. Hawkeye (I'm a sucker for anyone who can shoot with a bow and arrow)
3. Black Widow (love her close combat skills)
4. Thor (his ignorant humour and, puff-t, it's Chris Hemsworth :P)
5. Hulk (I don't dislike Hulk, I just like him the least)

Yes, skeptics, there's a difference.

Either way, I don't think they're showing this in cinemas anymore as this review is indeed, late. I had a great time watching this, though. I'm sure many share the same viewpoint.

Snow White and the Huntsman

This movie starts off modestly enough, with Snow White's mother narrating based on the introduction from the original Grimm Brothers' fairytale.

As goes the story, after his wife passes on, the lecherous king found Ravenna in a decaying cabin after defeating an army of conjured soldiers. Naturally, she ties him around her little finger in no time and eventually sticks a dagger hilt-deep into his heart. She then assumes his place on the throne.

Snow White was kept caged in the castle prison after that because Ravenna believed Snow White to be the bane of her existence, as the cliche goes.

Eventually, Snow White manages to escape into the Dark Forest. Having heard of the grueling tales related to the forest, Ravenna's brother enlists someone to hunt her down. A person who delved into its horrors and survived, namely Eric, the huntsman.

When Eric realizes Snow White is the daughter of the fallen king, he thought distancing himself would save her from harm (as his wife died from being with him). When it proved otherwise, he decides to help her take back what's rightfully hers: the throne.

The whole Snow-White-eats-apple-and-dies-but-is-awakened-by-a-kiss-from-her-true-love scene still happens in this version of the fairytale, no matter how many other things differed from the original work, of course. Albeit, it was never really revealed whose kiss undid the curse, it was strongly implied.

And alas, there was, naturally, a happy ending.

In spite of all that, now that I've seen this, it's safe to say I'm never going to judge a movie by its trailer ever again.

The worst part is, sometimes I find myself defending Kristen Stewart whenever someone criticizes her, be it regarding her stiff acting or rigid emotions. However, her part in this film demolished whatever decent opinion I had of her.

You'll understand what I mean when you hear her motivational speech before the big battle.

The production itself did little to help. For one, since when did women from that time wear pants under their gowns?

And all the hotness and good-looks of Chris Hemsworth could not possibly save this movie from being one of the worse films this year because his lines were as cheesy as mozzarella in pizzas.

Truth be told, the only silver lining in the movie was probably Charlize Theron, who played the Queen Ravenna. She was ultra-convincing in this adaptation of Snow White. I hated her character's guts. She's the kind of asshole everyone loves to hate.

Bravo, bravo, Charlize Theron.

But, like I said, she was the only silver lining. Second to that would be the seven dwarves (yes, they made an appearance too) and then the magic effects when they entered the fairies' domain. Liked the stag too. Pity it got shot.

All in all, I'd give this movie 2 stars out of 5. Don't bother watching it on the big screen if you haven't. Save your money. Download it or something.

Hunger Games

I'm hyperventilating, by the way -.-

Alright, so, as we all know, Hunger Games is a movie adaptation of the book of the same name by Suzanne Collins. Which reminds me, I have yet to review the book as well. Watched this not two days ago at Pavilion with my family and although it didn't receive many positive remarks from them, I've got my own opinions.

Why don't we start with the negatives? That way, when I'm writing all the positive stuff, I can feel glad I watched it.

Negative point 1: They take it for granted that everyone's read the book.

Why is it a negative point? Well, for one, because of that, they don't bother explaining much about some of the terms. Example: They never explained how the Mockingjay came about. They think that since many have read the book, it's not necessary to add it in. Truth be told, the Mockingjay is a cross-breed between a mockingbird and a jabberjay (genetically engineered to repeat whatever it hears and was used to spy on the people of the 12 districts). Jabberjays are also all male, which is why they mated with mockingbirds to stay alive when the Capitol decided not to use them anymore.

They did not explain what the sign of respect was, either. You know, the gesture where you put your fingers to your lips and raise them to the sky? Yeah. I had people in the cinema next to me going, "What's that?"

If you want another example, you know when Rue was dying and she asked Katniss to sing for her? In the book, it was explained that Katniss used to sing for Prim and Rue's district shared the same love for music. But was that ever mentioned in the movie? No. So, wouldn't it seem weird for Rue to suddenly ask for her to sing if people didn't know all that stuff?

Conclusion: Never leave out these important things that clarify situations and describe stuff.

Negative point 2: It is all pretty unrealistic.

I don't mean the whole Mockingjays stuff and the Hunger Games theory. I'm talking about how people die and shit. Take, for instance, Rue's death. She didn't even look dead. The part where she took the arrow out too. The bloody thing was so darn sharp and long. Wouldn't hurt to make it pierce deeper into her stomach or something. Isn't that the whole point of it's length?

And the dog thing? Really? I mean, why did they alter it so much? They were not supposed to look like that. They were supposed to have features of the dead tributes.

Maybe they couldn't engineer it in such a way.

Speaking of engineering, what the f*ck was that fire thing? I know what it's supposed to be. I know it's awesome. I know how it's supposed to turn out. What I'm trying to say is, how the hell did it turn out the way it did in the movie? It looked absolutely fake and... cartoon-y! My family and close friends would know this, but I hate fake stuff. Like even in The Three Musketeers when Milady was "sliding" through the traps. Bloody darn fake.

Conclusion: Try to be a little more real?

Negative point 3: Ending.

This is my personal opinion, really. I think that the ending should have been a little more elaborated. I mean, I wanted to know what else happened! I know President Snow's a jackass, but he was supposed to tell Katniss that he knew, right?

And didn't Katniss tell Peeta the whole love thing was an act?

Conclusion: More elaboration, please?

That's about it for the negative points. Now, for the awesome stuff in the movie.

Positive point 1: Great sound effects.

I loved how everything was made "boom" using sound effects. Like when they were firing the fireballs at Katniss? Cool. I felt like jumping out of the way, too. Haha. But maybe that's just me being weird -.-

Positive point 2: A little freedom was taken with the movie.

For example, in the book, they never really showed Gale being mad with Katniss' "display of affection" towards Peeta in the cave, right? I loved that. I hate Gale, honestly, so I don't really care how he feels unless it's misery. My hate's also partial for the guy 'cause I think he's a bad actor.

Remember, only my opinion.

Positive point 3: I think Josh Hutcherson and Jennifer Lawrence were pretty good at their roles.

Hutcherson is hot. Who can deny it? Nobody might've noticed him until Hunger Games, but now that he's made his debut role as the star in Hunger Games, he's gonna be remembered. I think he was also a good choice because Peeta Mellark was indeed written as a weak guy. He's a baker kid's son, hello? Never fought in his life, perhaps. So yeah, Hutcherson did good. Perfect choice of actor.

Lawrence was stiff as Katniss, but I take it that Katniss herself is a very passive person, so I'll dismiss that. Her facial expressions were stony, but like I said, Katniss herself is a passive person, so it's understandable that she wants to get into her role well. I love her smile, though. She's awfully pretty and I like it when she laughs. Oh, and when she's with Peeta.

So f*cking adorable.

Positive point 4: Kinda realistic in its own special way.

Like I said, they took a little liberty with the lines and stuff, but I love how they could make it such that Katniss very nearly stabbed Haymitch's hand when he was reaching for the jam or something. I think my heart paused for a mini-second.

Haha.

I also like how Katniss really looked like she was gonna kill Peeta after the whole public confession. Haha. I think Peeta and Hutcherson are all irresistible. So cute!! :P I'm starting to sound really biased.

Shan't deny it.

Positive point 5: The good parts in the book, they maintained.

By this, I mean some of the lines. They may have edited it a bit, like how Katniss said "I just can't afford to think like that" in the movie but it was never said in the book? But they did keep the heart-clenching lines like after Katniss kissed Peeta and he said, "There's no way I'm letting you go now."

Or something somewhere among those lines.

They kept Cinna's lines too, like when he said, "I'm here to make you leave an impression" and others of the like. We don't learn the names of his other assistants, though -.-

I mean, all in all, it's a good movie. I like it very much and I'm dying to go see it again. However, as usual, the book is always better than the movie. I originally thought that maybe I should watch Catching Fire first before reading the book, but if they're gonna repeat their mistakes like with the elaboration, then I'm better off reading the novel first.

Megamind

Don't you just love the second picture? :P

"It's BIG, for a reason."

Haha.

Yeah, I bought this just yesterday because my friends were all "Megamind's so nice!!" and "Megamind this" and "Megamind that" so I decided I wanted to see what was so funny about it.

Turns out it was really nice :)

You know what I thought honestly the first time I saw this was going to be out in the cinemas?

"How the hell can anyone think someone blue like that with a big blue head as nice?"

That is, until I watched it :P

It starts off with Megamind falling from mid air with some weird-looking gun falling alongside him. Then he starts to narrate his story from the very beginning. And when he says "the beginning", he ain't lying, he seriously starts from when he was a baby.

I can't say I liked him as a baby though, cause... I've got issues with... tiny creatures -_- Explains why I hate human babies as well -_-

But he was otherwise hilarious throughout the rest of the movie :) The plot, the twist, the characters, I couldn't find a reason not to like the movie after I finished it.

Except maybe the fact that I think the girl - Roxanne Richie - could've been a tad more pretty. That doesn't make her any less amusing in the movie, though, because her sarcastic puns were a joy to listen to.

Haha.

I hated the Metroman baby, though -_- He looked so... yong sui that I wanted to punch his teeth out. What "perfect" hair? Eeesh.

I liked the overall story line because it's so unexpected, though I kinda guessed that Metroman would've still been alive, but I didn't know he had to go through all that pondering in superspeed -_-

Bleghh~

Cute, though.

That's about it, really. I enjoyed this movie :) Especially the "You're fun" part. That part was SO Cleo. I wanted to laugh like anything :P

Shrek Forever After

If you haven't watched this movie, well, in my opinion, you should at least watch it once. My sister said it's not a movie she would wanna watch one more time, but I seriously believe you should at least watch it once.

For one, it tells you how you should treasure things while you have them, because when you've lost them, you'll know you've lost a part of yourself with them.

This story told of how Shrek wanted to be a real ogre for at least one day. You see, since he got married to Princess Fiona and got kids, he's been a "jolly green joke", as he calls himself, and obviously, he's not very happy about that.

So, this little jolly green joke decided to sign a contract with the devious Rumpelstiltskin *yes, from Rapunzel -_-* When asked what was the catch if Shrek got to be an ogre for one day, Rumpel said he only had to give a day, which meant Shrek could give up any day in his life in exchange for this one.

Shrek, foolish as always, left the choice up to Rumpel and he signed it.

He got his wish, of course. He got to be a real ogre - people were afraid of him and stuck up wanted posters of him. But he realizes things get screwed up when he spots a wanted picture of Fiona on a tree. When he confronted Rumpel, he found out nobody had saved her from the tower and the dragons' keep *something Shrek was supposed to do after being forced by Lord Farquad in the first movie* She busted outta there herself and was the head of a revelation.

"That's not supposed to happen! I saved her!"

That's what he declared, but what he didn't know was, when Shrek had given up a day of his life and left which day it was to Rumpel, Rumpel had taken the day Shrek was born. In other words: Shrek would've never existed after the day ended.

Yeah, and the only way to break the curse was "true love's kiss" -_- Yes, that part was the corniest part of the movie. I was like, what the hell? As if it couldn't be something else -_-

Anyways, I'll leave it up to you to know what happens in the end. It's a happy ending, like every other movie made, but I won't tell you how it ended :)

How To Train Your Dragon

Oh hell, you do not know how good a movie "How To Train Your Dragon" is :) I love it so, so, so, so bloody much.

Unfortunately, I couldn't watch the 3D version cause it had only close seats and my brother and I would have to be separated.

Originally we were all going for Alice In Wonderland but the 3D version for the earlier time was sold out and the next available time was 11 something and we had school tomorrow so... -_- And the non 3D version had second row seats...

... From the screen.

Yeah, so you can guess why we didn't watch that.

My parents and aunt didn't wanna watch something like How To Train Your Dragon cause they thought it was just a movie for kids, so they decided on Up In The Air, cause, well, I don't really know. It's just that they saw a review for it some days before in Starbucks in a magazine and they kinda liked the synopsis.

It's about this guy who gets paid to go around the world and fire people in the nicest way possible.

Yeah~

Damn, I love Hiccup *the guy from How To Train Your Dragon* :P The dude's dry sarcasm amuses me so much and the dragon is so goddamn cute. The way it reacts and the way it just... does stuff and the way it understands the human language *in Berk :P* is just... adorable.

I absolutely love How To Train Your Dragon.

So here's the synopsis:

Berk is a small village isolated from well... our world... and is kinda peculiar. Our pests are flies and mosquitoes while they have...

Yup, dragons.

So Hiccup, a not-so-average kid who's different from the rest in every way, dreams of proving everyone wrong by slaying a dragon. That way, he'd be popular and everything. Why they kill dragons? Well, it's just the natural order of things in Berk. They kinda steal their stock, destroy their houses and burn their entire land to crisp, but yeah~ -_-

But Hiccup changes his view on dragons when he actually caught one and let it go when he found out he couldn't bring himself to kill it.

Hiccup's engrossed in observing the dragon from up close, so he spends his days around it. Oh, I forgot to mention, the dragon can't fly away cause half it's tail was chopped off, so he can't fly the way he wants.

Gradually Hiccup starts to develop a bond with the dragon and all that kinda crap, and then the story twists when he was brought *with Astred* by Toothless *the dragon* to the dragon's nesting grounds. They find a more monstrous and terrifying dragon beneath the volcano. All the food that the dragons have been stealing were actually for that dragon. If they don't do it... well, they were the substitute.

And, obviously, I ain't gonna tell you everything or the company'll sue me, so yeah~ All in all, I love it.

Cirque Du Freak

Holy macaroni! I'm going to school tomorrow!! -_-

That aside, if you haven't watched Cirque Du Freak, I'll give you a little insight on the movie.

For those who have read the Darren Shan saga, do-not-watch-it. Honestly, the movie could compare to Twilight. And seriously, if we're talking about how closely the movie followed the book, I'm going to have to say they did a better job with Twilight.

Let me see, where do I start with their flaws?

Who the hell is REBECCA?? And what the hell were they thinking? There was no such thing as some monkey girl. And, Mr. Crepsley wasn't supposed to fall for Truska, but Arra Sails. Thirdly, Truska's supposed to be blonde -_- And, no one was supposed to be able to cut her hair!!

And the Wolf Man didn't even look like a Wolf Man. He looked like some over-sized rat with sharp teeth! Plus, it looked like a robot -_-

Oh, and Mr. Tiny wasn't tiny at all! He looked like some sumo wrestler! And isn't he supposed to have a heart-shaped pendant that he plays with? And he never turned anyone into a Little Person in front of anyone. Yet, he turned Murlough into a Little Person in front of Steve, Darren and Mr. Crepsley.

Gavner wasn't supposed to appear either -_- At least, not till they went off to Vampire Mountain. Murlough was so easily killed! I'm like "WHAT THE HECK?!!!"

AND SUPER SPIT?!! Half-vampires aren't supposed to be able to heal with their spit yet! And they didn't even mention the fact that half-vampires age only once every 5 years! And flitting?? Darren's not supposed to be able to flit yet! He's supposed to ride on Mr. Crepsley. Finito.

But instead, they said he had super spit, he could flit, and he even met Steve after he became a Vampaneze which was only supposed to happen in the few last books. He doesn't even think about Steve during the time he became a half-vampire!

And Evra?? Evra Von Brittow? He's supposed to be just Evra Von! And he ain't supposed to like music! He's not supposed to have a "recording studio" in his tent, and he wasn't supposed to mess up his act like he did in the show.

The list goes on and on!

I'm sorry, but I really can't stand the fact they changed almost everything in the book. I bet even the author would sue.

Bleghh~ Cirque Du Freak has got to be the worst book-made-into-a-movie movie I've ever watched in my entire life.

Sorry I didn't blog yesterday, by the way. Was too engrossed in the fact my sister let me buy the whole Avatar series. And I'm talking about Avatar: The Last Airbender :) If Danya wants to lend it, she can :) But that's also if I can sneak it in and she can sneak it out of school :P

Speaking of school, I still can't believe I'm going to school tomorrow. Haiz~ It's currently 11:10 and I'm supposed to be in bed, but this really sucks, cause I can't sleep late anymore. That's why last night, I slept  at 3 something with my brother cause we were watching Avatar :P

61 episodes, but I think they cut off some episodes, but I figured it's only like that because I skipped some episodes hitting the "Next" button a second too short for it to fast forward :P So, that means I've been skippin' quite a lot of episodes :P

But I won't be able to blog as much or watch anime as much I was able to from now on. What with my death match with PMR and my mom going all, "You have to get straight A's!!" -_-

And my class teacher is supposed to be the "duh" guy who provides answers straightaway when you ask. Not that I have a problem with that :P

Ugh, but my sister went back today to Singapore. To tell you the truth, I was awake when she woke me up. My eyes were open wide enough to see what she was dressed in. Unless my eyes were playing with me, she was dressed in darker colours :) Could faintly see her silhouette :)

My mom's probably gonna call me soon enough. I have to go now, but I'm both really eager to go to school tomorrow and really scared -_-

If you haven't watched this movie, WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU WAITING FOR?!!!

This movie is not only awesome, but it's great, fantastic and the best movie I've watched in the past few years. Coming in second is the Princess and the Frog :P

They've got great graphics, story line, and this is probably one of the most expensive movies ever made. The directors must have burnt holes in their pockets in order to make some blockbuster movie like this!!

And oh damn, I love the creatures in the movie. The Ikrans, the dog-like thingymajings and all the other kind of animals in there. WOO!!!

Guess what? I'm watching it again with my parents and siblings tomorrow but this time, we're watching the 3D version. HOW EFFING COOL IS THAT?!!! :P I watched it with my siblings, aunt and her husband today :) It gave me a little headache at first, though, because we were sitting at the SECOND row from the front, and trust me, when you're sitting THIS close to the screen, you're bound to develop a headache -_- 

It was worse for me, because I already had a little bit of a headache before entering the cinema. And the beginning was quite boring, so I was actually debating on sleeping :P But when it gradually moved on to the exciting part, you won't wanna get your eyes off the screen even if it's to blink :P

I'm exaggerating, but you get my drift :P

That aside, my day began at 11 something close to 12 :P I was forced to bathe and I came out freezing. The hair dryers didn't exactly help much either because it was blowing so damn slowly -_- Ate brunch at Coffee Terrace *Yumm~* to make up for the horrible dinner yesterday :P

After that, my maid and I went to the Starbucks in the First World Theme Park whilst my brother and sister went around shopping. Apparently, there was a Christmas clearance sale -_-

Hell would I participate in such an event :P

But seriously, there is something wrong with the WiFi at Starbucks. Either that, or that WiFi just refuses to supply Internet connection to Macs -_- I swear, we were the only ones there without an Internet connection.

Since I had no Internet connection, I decided to write my "rubbish" -_-

My uncle then called me to come out from Starbucks and go to Hotel Highlands. I went to the Starbucks there and tried to use their WiFi. Notice the Italic-ed "tried". I don't have to spell it out in order for you to "guess" I couldn't use their Internet connection either -_-

My sister came in soon and tried as well, to no avail. Though, I had my moments when she would suddenly scream, "It's working!" and yell in frustration, "Arghh! It's not effing working!!"

Soon, it was time to catch Avatar :D I love it, love it, love it, love it, love it!!! Came out very satisfied.

*Pause*

-_- Bleghh~ My sister ain't lettin' me find the song at the end of the Avatar movie. It's really, really, really, really nice~!!! :P

But yeah, seriously, it was a great movie :)

Joined my parents and other aunt for dinner at Genting Palace. Yumm~ There was ostrich meat, veggie, fried bean curd and all that. Hehe :P After we had dinner, we decided to go back to the hotel first because my sister had to settle some stuff -_-

And now we're here at McD's. Just had an ice cream sundae with chocolate topping :) Nyehehehe :P My brother just bought nuggets too but my sister ain't lettin' me eat -_- Grr :P
