Woot~

Finally, an anime review for Suisei no Gargantia!! This is the first mecha anime I've followed till the end. I've tried Gundam before, since I thought it should be tolerable, but I was wrong.

I guess for an uncultured mecha-ite, taking on hardcore mecha is a little too adventurous.

Either way, this anime is fantastic. 

Ledo (actually I prefer "Red" but this is not about my preferences so...) is a young ensign from the Galactic Alliance of Humankind who fights the Hideauze race in space. They kind of have a home up in space. Apparently they decided Earth could not be habited because of the fourth ice age. They explain this further in the anime so if you watch it then you'll understand.

So Ledo and the other fighters, who do so using Machine Calibers, were fighting Hideauze when their failed attempt at intruding on their (the Hideauze) home base causes Ledo to crash land on Earth. When he wakes up, he realises he's been in a state of cryostasis for 6 months while his wounds healed. 

He was found by a community of humans who lived in large ships. The one he landed on was Gargantia, ruled by a Commander by the name of Fairlock and others. 

In his quest to figure out how to get back to the Galactic Alliance, he learns to adapt to the new surroundings and customs, like what they do when it rains or their system of salvaging stuff from the bottom of the sea.

He meets Amy, a 15-year-old messenger, too, though in a rather unconventional way >.<  

This story is technically about the ups-and-downs in Ledo's time on Gargantia while the story progresses. Don't worry, the plot thickens by the episode and I guarantee that when the anime ends, you will be satisfied.

That is, of course, if you like that kind of happy-ever-after.

Guess it depends, then :P

I personally enjoyed this anime right from the start to the end. I believed that this 13-episode anime could have lasted a longer time, but I guess they're making it up with a second season, right?

Yes, by the way, a second season has been confirmed. Now all I gotta do is wait >.<

Ano Natsu De Matteru

Honestly? I had this in my hard drive for approximately a few months now without any intention to watch this. Now that I have, I'm glad :D

I didn't have any expectations with this anime. I just thought the girl was cute and the story line seemed interesting enough to spark my interest.

That aside, this anime is about Kirishima Kaito, who's in the first-grade of high school. He loves taking videos with his camera (which looks めちゃくちゃ old-school), mostly of scenery and the environment, but that doesn't limit him to take videos of any aspect of important things in his life either. It was apparently to compensate for the lack of time he spent with his parents before they died.

Anyway, he was out one evening atop a dam, testing his new high-speed camera film, when he saw this blue light emitting from the sky. It unfortunately crash-landed and the impact blew him off beyond the railings (but not before he saw a hand reach out towards him), which was supposed to have killed him.

But it didn't.

Instead, he wakes up in his futon the next morning like it never happened. However, when he starts rolling the camera in school, he catches a girl with red hair through the lenses.

This girl, is Takatsuki Ichika. As you probably already naturally guessed, the crash-landing incident was caused by her and her spaceship.

Oh yes, yes, she's an alien.

The purpose for her arrival on Earth was actually to find this one place that she's seen only in her memories. The coordinates apparently matched those as on Earth so she travelled to Earth to find the place. In the event of her crash-landing, she unfortunately "killed" Kaito. To save him, she transferred her cells, which consist of nanomachines capable of curing Kaito, through a kiss, to heal him.

However, the transfer of cells came with side effects, such as the deteriorating of skin cells on his body, which looks like hickeys to the average person.

In order to make sure he doesn't suffer any side effects, Ichika ends up staying on Earth and close to him, which was helped by the fact that Kaito subconsciously invited Ichika to stay with him while his working sister went overseas for some work she needed to complete.

You'd think that was all to the story right? That it was about the two of them and the whole live-happily-ever-after cliche?

It's not O.O

Actually, it gets more interesting from here on out because one of Ichika's classmates, Yamano Lemon *pronounced Remon* (whose in third grade of high school) decides to make a movie. I'm guessing it's to make memories? :)

Anyways, as they work on the project, things get really complicated but it's also fun to watch. For one, it's quite tear-jerking. Although I didn't actually cry, the need to was present, especially towards the end.

Characters were very well-developed. I loved the twist concerning Mio's family. Shan't mention it in order to not spoil it for you, though :) The other characters were loveable too. I love Lemon's double-identity :P Tetsurou's sister's funny too.

Story was interesting too, to say the least. Well, it made me want to continue watching, so that's got to mean something, right?

Now, the ending, I must unfortunately criticise. Although there were implications that Ichika returned to Earth, it doesn't mean they shouldn't elaborate on the future lives of the characters??

Although, in its defence (and actual sense), the cliffhanger ending was more appropriate, since the epilogue-added movie was aired at their school carnival when they had already graduated.

All in all, I would definitely say that this is an anime worth watching. If you can find the DVD, why not? For me, though, I downloaded it in 720p :D I believe in watching anime in high definition, so...

Haha.

Also my personal opinion? Ichika reminds me of Onegai Teacher!'s Mizuho :)

Doesn't she?? Just yesterday, I couldn't even imagine Ichika without first imagining Mizuho. Must be the hair and style of drawing -.- The story line was kind of similar too, in the sense that both Mizuho and Ichika are older than their love interests, Kei and Kaito respectively.

I think Lemon had some form of similarity to Onegai Teacher!'s Morino Ichigo (who suffered a time lapse of 8 years, I think?).

Turns out both anime had the same character designer, Uon Taraku. Oh, and the seiyuu for both Ichigo and Lemon are the same person -.-

Avatar: The Legend of Korra

And once again, by request of a friend (the same friend), I'm reviewing Avatar: The Legend of Korra. I'd wanted to do so for a long time but just never got around to doing it because I was lazy.

Anyways, Legend of Korra technically revolves around the same thing: The Avatar must bring balance and peace to the world. The only difference between this installment and its prequel is that:

1. The Avatar's job here is to maintain the balance and peace between the worlds.

Post-war-with-the-previous-Fire-Lord, the world had technically already regained its peace status under Aang's reign.

2. It's centered within the walls of Republic City.

Republic City is the main setting for this series. It's a large metropolis with a highly-trained police force consisting of metalbenders. 

3. It's more fast-paced.

In contrast with its prequel, The Legend of Korra moves at a slightly faster pace than The Last Airbender. The directors wasted no time in the story development.

4. The characters are older than the previous installment.

The Avatar and Co. in this series are around the ages of 16-18 years old (depending if I'm accurate with my assumptions :P). Definitely older than when it was Aang, Katara and Sokka, whom were 12, 14 and 15 respectively.

5. The Avatar is a girl.

Oh yes, the main character and Avatar is a full-fledged teenage girl with raging hormones and an attitude to match.

Overview:

Since she was young, Korra had been training under mentors to earthbend, firebend and waterbend (under Katara). The only thing she had left to learn was airbend, whom she was supposed to learn under Tenzin, Aang and Katara's youngest child.

Quite unfortunately for her, Tenzin postponed her training because he had things to settle in Republic City (as he is one of the oh-so-important Council members). Unwilling to postpone her training, Korra follows him to Republic City and runs headfirst into Lin Beifong, Toph's daughter, who is the Chief of the police force in Republic City.

Havoc ensues and before she knows it, Korra is thrown into jail.

After bailing her out, Tenzin reprimands her severely before insisting that she return home to the Southern Water Tribe. Korra refuses and pleads to stay with him in Republic City and his family. He says no at first, but relents in the end.

From here on out, it's trouble and trouble and more trouble. 

In chunks. 

For one, she gets involved in Pro-Bending, which is a competition whereby a team of three benders (water/fire/earthbender) battle against another team of the same composition in an arena, climb their way up to the top and gain the title of Pro-Benders. Against Tenzin's better judgement.

Then, she gets herself wrapped around the finger of Councilman Tarrlok, who is a rotten politician down to his toes.

Oh, she also gets involved in a sticky and complicated relationship with heartthrob Mako, who's supposedly dating Sato Asami, the daughter of Sato Hiroshi.

The primary antagonist in this series is Amon, the leader of the Equalists. The Equalists are a group of non-benders who believe in a world without benders so as to achieve equality amongst the people of the world. 

I can't really blame them for thinking that way. Seems kind of unfair that only chosen people get to manipulate elements, which is so bloody awesome. 

Honestly speaking, I'd be jealous too :P

Anyways, back to Equalists, they specialise in a kind of fighting which renders bending useless. Things get worse when Amon is revealed to have the ability to take one's bending away. This was demonstrated when he captured a few benders (including Bolin, Mako's brother and one of the members on the Fire Ferrets team). Of course, he's saved before anything was done to him.

Either way, knowing that Amon could do what was known as "energybending" (whom Aang was thought as the only person in history who could do it) worried a great deal of people, Korra and Tenzin included. And so, the great cat-and-mouse chase of the century begins, with everybody on Lin Beifong's task force as well as Korra participating.

Not wanting to spoil everything before you actually watch the show, I'll just conclude with:

3/5 for Character Development. 

I know, I know, it's kind of surprising, given the positive remarks from other critics. Yet, I find Korra insufferable in more ways than not. I understand that she's meant to be obstinate and aggressive as well as stubborn and headstrong, but there's only so much people can deal with. 

And, although Mako is drop-dead gorgeous, I really hated him when he started "dating" Asami. I can't even call it dating because he never really liked her. It was like he was with her only because he was in denial (regarding his love for Korra). 

In that sense, I guess it was pretty redundant.

Bleghh~

The only thing stopping me from rating this 2/5 is the fact that I love the other characters. I love Tenzin. He's hilarious. I love Lin too. And I find Bolin a good contrast to Mako's "dark and gloomy" personality.

Also, despite the fact that I didn't like Korra in the beginning, I began liking her towards the end because she stopped worrying about her feelings for Mako and instead really started to kick butt :P

4/5 for Originality (after the first series).

I think it was great that they were able to come up with the concept of the Equalists and their fight for a non-bending world. It's different from The Last Airbender, where one nation decides on conquering the rest of the nations through war. 

The fact that the Avatar is a girl in this sequel also strikes me as a good point. Apparently, it's because Avatar Kyoshi got great reviews.

5/5 for Artwork.

Since The Last Airbender, one of the reasons why I've loved this series is because of the art. I love the style of the four nations as they evolved and even the police force's outfits. So cool :P I love Korra's hairstyle too :)

Long story short: The art's great.

3/5 for Storyline.

This technically falls under Originality, because the storyline has to be based on the creator's originality, but while I rated Originality 4/5, I only rate this 3/5 because it was quite choppy for me. At some times I feel it was rushed, and the other times it feels as if stuff were added in just to satisfy the episode length.

All in all, I don't mind it, and it's only MY opinion, so I didn't think too much of it.

4/5 for Time Well Spent.

Haha.

It's not really something I would put into when reviewing, because it's retarded and makes no sense, but I consider this series something you should watch if you have time.

In short, I would continue watching this. Naturally, the story hasn't concluded. It's only in its first season, Book 1: Air and has been airing since April till June. The second season has been said to start sometime in 2013, which is next year.

"Critics, bring it on!"

Avatar: The Last Airbender

Okay, so by request of a friend (as I'm sure you would know if you read my chat box -.-), here's the review for Avatar: The Last Airbender.

In their world, it is d i v i d e d into four nations: the Water Tribe, the Fire Nation, the Air Nomads and the Earth Kingdom. Each of these nations specialize in a particular type of element which gave them their names. So:

Water Tribe

Fire Nation

Air Nomads

Earth Kingdom

However, a mediator is needed at all times to protect the balance of the world and the peace between the four nations. Fancily dubbed the "Avatar", this one individual has the ability to bend all four elements. Lifted from Wikipedia, the Avatar is like "the spirit of the world reincarnated into human form". And since one is always in need, whenever the Avatar dies (be it from natural causes or murder), the spirit is once again reborn into the next nation in the Avatar Cycle. 

He/She does, however, have to be careful because should the Avatar die whilst in the Avatar State (which is a brief moment in time when the current Avatar is given all the knowledge and abilities of the previous Avatars), the cycle would be broken and the Avatar lost, forever.

Originally a Nickelodeon broadcast, The Last Airbender follows the story of Aang (pronounced with an "ehng" sound, not the "uhng" like in the movie. Stupid assholes -.-) as he strives to restore the balance in the world which was lopsided because of Sozin, the idiot Fire Lord from that time.

You see, Fire Lord Sozin wanted more than just his nation. He wanted all the nations to be united under his reign. Greedy, right? I know -.- His best friend (who was actually Avatar Roku) did his best to thwart his plans to dive into a world war, but the damage was already done.

Even after Avatar Roku passed away (watch the show if you wanna know how), the war raged on. 

Needing an Avatar, the monks in the Southern Air Temple decided, against Monk Gyatso's (Aang's mentor) better judgement, to tell Aang of his destiny. Told that he was the Avatar prematurely prompted Aang to escape from his responsibilities as the Avatar by running away on his sky bison, Appa. 

However, in his attempt to run, Aang gets engulfed in a storm. Activating some defense mechanism in his Avatar State, though, he is able to bend the water around him and freeze it so that he remains alive throughout the storm.

Shortly after, Fire Lord Sozin orders a massacre on all the Air Nomads so as to completely rid the world of Avatars. This involves the death of every existing airbender save Aang, who was still in the ice cube.

100 years passed till Katara, a 14-year-old waterbender and her 15-year-old brother, Sokka finally broke Aang out of the iceberg when they went out fishing one day and discovered him. Since then, they've been helping him on his conquest to "save the world".

Loved this show a lot. Forced my sister to watch it. She'd know :P

Interest was maintained as the 60-episode show dragged on. Plenty of humour (because Sokka is a naturally funny and intuitive guy) and romance too.

If you like adventure and action where people can bend the four elements, this is definitely the show for you. Alternatively, you could try the movie, but I wouldn't watch it again. EVER.

Hiiro no Kakera

Ola :) So here's the review for Hiiro no Kakera. It consists of 13 episodes with the last episode airing on the 24th of June. Technically, this is about a few weeks late. 

Can't blame me, right? What with three seizures in the last month, I couldn't exactly use the computer whenever I wanted.

That aside, this based-on-an-RPG-game story tells the tale of Kasuga Tamaki whom, for some reason, has to live with her grandmother at the Kifumura Village. 

Upon arriving at the village, however, she is attacked by some enraged deities. Ah, but fear not, for she was rescued by her "knight in shining armour" -.-

That is, Onizaki Takuma.

After regaining some of her composure, the both of them make their way to Tamaki's grandmother's house, where, after gaining an audience with her grandma, Tamaki finds out that she is the new Tamayori princess. As the Tamayori princess, she has the duty of protecting the Onikirimaru, which has destructive power and may threaten the safety of the village, from the evil Logos people (who want to use it for some bad purpose).

All she has to do is prevent certain people from stealing what they dubbed 'seals', which consist of the original Tamayori princess' accessories/heirlooms.

Of course, with every shoujo anime, comes a bunch of hot guys who accompany her on her quest to 'save the world'. And these five 'lucky' peeps are Onizaki Takuma, Atori Mahiro, Ohmi Suguru, Komura Yuuichi and Inukai Shinji. All of 'em are from the Shugogo House.

Basically, it's another one of those Fushigi-Yuugi fairytales where a bunch of bishounen have to protect one useless girl.

Trust me, I'm not exaggerating (or, in true blue my-family style: exzazzerating) when I say she's useless. Not only does she not do anything that may benefit her protectors, but when she does find a use for herself, she goes and tires herself out within the next minute and becomes immediately useless again.

Bleghh~

The anime seemed promising in the beginning, but its interest was not sustained throughout the series. I ended watching it till the end not because of its amusing storyline, but because I wanted to know if Takuma and Tamaki ended up an item.

And I was disappointed even in that field.

Sure, there were signs of romance between the two, but not enough to keep me entertained throughout.

Imagine this: two or three episodes used just to let the audience know that the Tamayori princess has the power to do something to save them but doesn't know how to. To make things worse, her grandma's not doing the world a favour by telling her. Oh, and the Shugogo protectors are always beaten to a pulp whenever they face the Logos.

And then, to piss the Shugogo protectors, Tamaki goes around talking about how she wants to help them and how she'll find a way to save them. Dudette, you couldn't save yourself from one of the five Logos people - you don't have the right to say something like that.

To sum it all up: Unless you like an anime with a crappy storyline, this is not the anime for you :)

Brave 10

Woot! So this is the most recent anime I've finished watching. Considering the fact that I'm in the middle of exams, it was probably stupid of me to do this, but I did it anyway. I started before the exams but I guess that's no excuse -.-

Anyways, this anime is called Brave 10. Long story short, under a powerful man named Sanada Yukimura, 10 warriors serve him based on an illustration with the yin-yang symbol surrounded by eight balls. They all represent an element each. The eight balls represent Metal, Ice, Wind, Water, Earth, Thunder, Grass and Fire. The yin and yang represent Light and Darkness.

That aside, the story starts with a girl, Isanami, escaping from a temple in Izumo after everyone was slaughtered by a masked man demanding for the temple's treasure. Insisting that Isanami, the sole survivor, had to be saved, the head priest sacrifices himself so she can escape. During her escapade, she stumbled across Kirigakure Saizo, who saves her out of a whim when her pursuers attempt to kill him.

Being an Iga ninja helped, since they're trained assassins.

After that, Isanami becomes pretty much obsessed with Saizo, insisting that he go everywhere with her and vice versa. It gets quite irritating because she's actually a really girly characters? And she whines and cries a lot. That's the one thing I couldn't really stand throughout this anime -.-

Either way, I'll give a short overview on each of the characters :)

Kirigakure Saizo (Light)
Well, he's cute, I can say that, but he's also really rough and short-tempered. Sometimes, the way he treats Isanami annoys me because he's the typical guy-who-can't-stand-girls type? Yeah. But he's a really good fighter and hilarious at times :)

P/S: Find out why he's Light by watching the anime :)

Isanami (Darkness)
I kinda already told you about her, right? She's a little annoying because of her whiny personality but she loves to eat and she, obviously, loves Saizo -.- She gets really jealous easily (especially when Anastasia is involved) but, being a priestess, she believes she has to be pure.

P/S: Find out why she's Darkness by watching the anime :)

Sanada Yukimura
He's their "master", I guess. They serve him, obeying his orders and whatnot whenever trouble occurs. He's actually the lord in Ueda. Although he may seem pathetic and a playboy, he's really reliable and has faith in all his warriors.

Unno Rokuro
I love this guy :) His right eye can copy any kind of information that it sees even though he sees it only once. He's also the element of water. Doesn't show much in the stuff he does, but his abilities are cool enough :) He's also technically Yukimura's right-hand man.

Sarutobi Sasuke
No, not Sasuke from Naruto -.- This guy's the element of grass whose playground is the forest. He's a ninja, needless to say, and although he doesn't speak much, I like him a lot :) He's really cute and has a small crush on Isanami. He hates Saizo's guts but eventually they learn to accept each other's differences and treat each other as partners on the same team.

Juzo Kakei
He's of the metal element. User of metal guns. (Such a surprise -.-). Not much to say about him. He's more of a wanderer and respects Yukimura a lot. He sometimes goes off to travel the world, partnering with different kinds of people, but his loyalty remains with Yukimura.

Seikai
Apparently the "long lost brother" of Isanami, Seikai is the element of Earth. It's not that he's lying about being related to Isanami, it's just that he meant they were both raised by the priest in Izumo before Seikai decided to explore the world in search of the meaning of God. When he returns all buff and macho, he finds Izumo ruined. However, hearing rumors of the remaining priestess, he's hopeful that he can find Isanami again. He's really protective of her but he's not liked by Kakei because he sometimes demands to eat for free, saying that people who serve Buddha should happily serve his apprentices the same way.

Yuri Kamanosuke
... I don't hate him? But I can't say he's the best dude either. I mean, he's hilarious and I guess he's also kinda cute, but...

He's... gay?

I'm not too sure. I mean, he blushes when Saizo touches him and he's always going on and on about how he wants to fight Saizo all the time. To make matters worse, he's very often mistaken as a woman (because of his long red hair and feminine bodice). He controls the wind, by the way. Awfully cool techniques, except he's not as good as Saizo.

Anastasia (Ana)
She's also an Iga ninja, and Saizo's childhood friend. She controls the ice element. Really good at it, too. She's referred to as the "busty blonde" by the rest of the team because of her... *ahem*... assets. Isanami doesn't like it when she gets close to Saizo, but she's never thought of him that way. Eventually, Isanami learns to like Ana as a friend and confides in her, saying they are like one big family.

Benmaru
Benmaru is of the fire element. He specializes in explosives and whatnot. He led Yukimura and the rest of the warriors into a path where he had planted traps, intending to test Yukimura to see if he was worthy to be his master. Yukimura and the warriors "passed", according to Benmaru, but he also earned a whack from Saizo, who said Benmaru was trying to kill them. He's a small kid, by the way, who likes Isanami a lot as a big sister. His real name is Rokuro, but Yukimura thought that having two people in the group with the same name was going to be trouble, so he bestowed upon him the name "Benmaru", which is actually Yukimura's childhood name.

Nezu Jinpachi
He's the last of the warriors to be assembled and controls lightning. He likes busty women like Ana so it's no surprise he wanted to meet her (due to some circumstances, Ana was left at the house with Sasuke when Jinpachi and Yukimura met). He was originally a sea pirate with only love for his freedom, his boat and his booze. Funny, naturally.

Mayo Chiki!

Okie dokie :) Another anime review after a long time. This was one of the more recent ones that I fairly liked. It's called Mayo Chiki.

Sakamachi Kinji is your average 17-year-old who attends school like every other normal human being.

なんてね

Like anime would allow for such a lame ass story line where the main character is an average person living a normal life. Unlike other "normal people", Kinji has gynophobia.

For those who have no idea what the eff that is, it's a fear towards females.

Uh-huh, this wimp is scared of girls.

Not to say he's actually scared of them, but more like his condition prevents him from going anywhere near them. This sickness causes him to suffer from a nose bleed every time he comes into physical contact with other girls.

On the other hand, there's the all-popular Suzutsuki Kanade, the very rich single daughter of the high school principal, and her butler, Konoe Subaru, who is loved by all the girls in the school.

What they do not know, however, is the fact that Subaru is actually a very real girl. Kinji just had very bad luck finding out when he accidentally walks in on her in the boys' bathroom - so technically, it ain't even his fault.

They don't care, nonetheless, so now, he's always being kept a close eye on by Subaru and Kanade because Subaru was only allowed to be a butler (which is obviously so because butlers are always male) on the condition that no one found out about her real gender.

Hallelujah, that's pretty much how the story goes. This show is quite nice. The first episode might be a bit... pervy, though, just to warn you in case you decide to watch it. Even so, it's alright.

Astarotte no Omocha

It's been long since I reviewed any of the animes I watched, so I'm just going to review the ones I've watched before, but never really got around to reviewing.

This has been out for quite some time now. They're in stores too, but I didn't buy it because I watched everything online. This one's called Astarotte no Omocha, which literally translates to Astarotte's Toy.

It tells the story of a ten-year-old succubus princess, Astarotte (also known as Lotte), who has just come of age. In this anime, it is customary for a coming-of-age succubus to have a male harem. Quite unfortunately, due to an incident in previous years where Astarotte walked in on her mother and some other dude. Due to this, she is insistent that she will never have a male harem.

However, since everyone around her was pestering her to have a male harem because it was her "duty" as a succubus princess, she relented on the condition that a human male joined the harem.

Once again, quite unfortunately for her, they managed to run into Tohara Naoya, whom, under very complicated circumstances, was brought to their world to be a part of Astarotte's harem.

Oh, and he brought his ten-year-old daughter, Asuha, as well.

This anime is... quite alright, except for the fact that I think it's twisted because of Naoya's past with Astarotte's mother, Mercelida. I hated Mercelida because she made Naoya part of HER harem too, which means Asuha is a product of their... err... togetherness -_-

Bleghh~ That's just SO wrong.

I like Naoya. He's nice and cute. But he's an asshole as well. They never end up together. It's animes like these - where the main character is just too friggin' young to "end up" with anyone - that piss the shit out of me.

Eeesh.

Either way, that's just from my point of view. A few ecchi scenes here and there, but hey, animes nowadays are bound to have that sort of element in one way or another in them. Not a personal favourite, but I got by it.

Love the ending song, though, "Manatsu no Photograph". You would've seen it already if you've been diligently following my blog previously :)

Dantalian no Shoka

Phantom Books are books that contain forbidden knowledge. I'm sorry, but I can't seem to remember how Phantom Books are born, so you'll have to watch it to see for yourself :P Since these books are fairly dangerous, they are preferably kept in the Mystic Archives of Dantalian (also known as Bibliotheca Mystica de Dantalian), housing 900,666 books.

The Mystic Archive is an actual space in another dimension where a girl keeps track of all the Phantom Books. She's got flowing long light-purplish hair and can't escape from the archives. Her "other self", though, takes form in a young girl with black hair with a purple tint. She is called Dalian, and she's the Black Biblioprincess (Jap: 黒読姫), the custodian of the Mystic Archives.

Since the Mystic Archives are, well, the Mystic Archives, Dalian considers herself a very important figure and much more knowledgeable than others. She sometimes replies with the English "Yes" rather than in Japanese when answering questions and has a big lock on her chest.

Naturally, every lock has a key, right? This is where Hugh Anthony Disward comes in. Commonly called Huey, he is the owner of the particular key which unlock Dalian's lock, allowing him entrance into the Mystic Archives to retrieve Phantom Books. His key was actually left behind for him by his grandfather, Wesley Disward, who was the previous Keykeeper of the Mystic Archives.

Now you're probably wondering why there is a need for any books to be retrieved if they're dangerous, right? Well, every second of every minute of every hour of every day, new Phantom Books are born, and aren't yet kept in the Mystic Archives. Due to this, ordinary people get their hands on it and every time someone gets involved with these books, they're likely to be either consumed in its knowledge or just use it for criminal activity.

Other Phantom Books can undo the spells contained by other Phantom Books, so :)

So this is pretty much how the anime goes :) Really interesting, but my personal opinion is that I hate Dalian's other self in the Mystic Archives. She pisses me off. If Huey falls for her, I hate this anime. Begs if there's a second season, he finds that he's got feelings for Dalian.

Doesn't that idiot know she likes him too?! Bleghh~

Pandora Hearts

Alright, so this was one of the anime I got recently. I actually just finished that anime. Now that my parents aren't here - I'm not saying it's better without them - I got it down pretty fast, especially since I was fastforwarding the clips. The subs were flashing along the clips as I fastforward-ed it, so it helped.

Anyways, this anime starts off with young 15-year-old Oz Vessalius - the heir to one of the four main Duke houses in the said anime (the others being Rainsworth, Nightray and Barma) - attending his coming-of-age ceremony. Towards the end of the ceremony, though, some people cloaked in robes threw him into the space they called the "Abyss". There, he meets the Alice - also known as the Bloodstained Black Rabbit or simply just B-Rabbit - who saved him in the nick of time for him to not get eaten by what were called "Chains". 

In actual fact, Alice was also one of those "Chains", but she was different. For one, she could assume her human form, unlike other Chains who only look like screwed up dolls.

Yeah~

That aside, not long after being dumped into the Abyss, the two of them manage to get back out into the real world. Little did they know they were going to be deeply involved with an organization called the Pandora and at the same time, recovering lost memories, strengthening bonds, and fighting a heck of a lot of Chains.

A lot of terms are used in this anime, such as "Chains", "Contracts", "Will of the Abyss", "The Four Great Dukedoms" et cetera, et cetera, et cetera. 

The concept of it all is interesting. I enjoyed the most of it. There were hints of romance between Alice and Oz (thank God), and even between Oz's sister, Ada, and his servant/childhood friend, Gilbert - Gil, for short. There are, of course, elements of humour as well. 

However, the ending was questionable. For the most part, it wasn't really finished. It didn't end properly. They never found the Will of the Abyss, they never fought Glen Baskerville - heck, we didn't even see him - and quite a lot more mysteries were unsolved in the anime.

Nonetheless, reasonably good. Now, for the seiyu, be prepared :P

C: The Money of Soul and Possibility Control

Yes, I know, this ain't the time to be watching anime, but what the heck, since the damage's been done, I'll just review it while I'm still in the mood.

C: The Money of Soul and Possibility Control was an anime I was skeptical about when I first saw it. I bought this anime for RM20 at Pavilion the other day. I wasn't so sure about whether it'd be nice (since I didn't see it on AnimeSeason or any other anime website), but I liked the drawing and the main characters, so... Yeah~

It only has 11 episodes. So... I kinda finished this in one day. But that'll be between you and I, yes? :P 

Anyways, this anime focuses around the world economy. Lifted from Wikipedia, the Japanese government was on the brink of a financial collapse when the Sovereign Wealth Fund stepped in and got it onto its feet again. However, Japan suffered the side effects: increase of the unemployed, crime, suicide and many others.

On the other hand, Yoga Kimimaro is a 19-year-old college student studying economics. His ideal future is one which he spends with his wife and kids - a normal life. To achieve that, he needs money. And to achieve that, he has to work two part-time jobs (both at grocery stores) and use as little money as possible. That has been his life since he graduated from living with his maternal aunt. His mother passed away and his father disappeared when he was very young so he had to live a very independent life.

That took a very vicious turn when he was approached by a very eccentric-looking guy called Masakaki. He offered Kimimaro an alternative to his current only-option of working two separate jobs at the same time: join them in the Financial District as an Entre (short for Entrepreneur) with their future as a collateral. 

The District was where Entres made Deals at least once a week to earn money. These "Deals" involved the battle between two Entres and the usage of their "Assets". Assets are remodeled after an Entre's future - they can be anything that eventually takes part in that person's future.

So, very much against Kimimaro's will, he had to live like that, fighting Entres at least once every week with his Asset, a red-head with horns atop her head who manipulates the element of fire. 

There are quite a lot of events that occur in this anime. With the help of a few people, one of them a lady who belongs in an organization researching the Financial District, Jennifer Sato, Kimimaro strives to protect the future of Japan and the world.

The concept of this anime is actually really interesting. The plot moves quite quickly too, so the audience won't get too bored with the story line. I just watched this really recently, so you can imagine how fast-paced this anime was :)

It has only 11 episodes after all. 

I thank God the dude ends up liking his Asset instead of that irritating girl in his college. Sheesh, she (Ikuta Hanabi) already has a boyfriend for God's sake. Besides, Mashyu is absolutely adorable :) Teehee.
