Ahh~ Another anime review. I think there'll be loads of those coming because I just don't know what else to do when I'm sitting in front of the computer AFTER I've already blogged about my day.
Anyways, Danya has heard about this anime before. We were briefing her about it in school. Apparently, Kanga knows about it too. Now this Edward, I like. Not the crazy Twilight one. Urgh...
That aside, this story is about a system called the "Principle of Equivalent Trade", meaning someone cannot gain something without losing something of equivalent value. It's also about alchemy, of course. :)
It starts with young Edward and Alphone Elric, who are brothers. They lived with their mother as their father always disappeared. It was as if she was a single mother, caring for two kids. However, she loved them very much, and so did they.
Edward and Alphonse learnt alchemy at a very young age and soon they began to remind their mother of their father. However, she began to miss him so much that she fell ill and finally, departed to the afterlife.
Depressed and heartbroken, Edward and Alphonse try to find a way to revive their mother. They decided to transmutate her. However, according to the "Principle of Equivalent Trade", they had to give to gain, and so Alphonse sacrificed his body whilst Edward sacrificed his left leg.
However, as Edward tried to see if his mother returned, he saw a monster instead. He wanted his brother back and so, using a soul binding thingymajing, he managed to bind Alphonse's soul to an armor. For that, he lost his right hand.
When Alphonse had woken up, he was in the armor, and his brother was bleeding to death. Immediately, he ran to Winry's house, whose grandmother made automails *mechanical body parts* and begged them to save him.
At first, they just bandaged him, but a visit from Roy Mustang, a Nationally Certified Alchemist, made Edward change his mind. He wanted to become a Nationally Certified Alchemist as well. So, when he woke up, he requested for an automail.
After getting his automail *which hurts more than you think :P*, he sets off with Alphonse on a quest to gain their bodies back. They have loads of ups and downs *like every other anime*, and height becomes a sensitive issue to Edward :P
Later, after becoming a Nationally Certified Alchemist, he is dubbed the Full Metal Alchemist.
Gotta ciao now. It's 1:44 a.m. and my asshole of a brother just called me to go upstairs and sleep. Eeesh. He's SO not listening to my iPod for a week! CIAO!!
