Suisei no Gargantia Ep 5

As I promised, here's the episode review for:

Suisei no Gargantia Ep 5

Suisei no Gargantia
Calm Day

So where did we leave off in the last episode? Right, our loveable protagonist shed tears of nostalgia O.O

The first three minutes of the latest episode, however, recaptured Red's last conversation with Bebel regarding what the Galactic Alliance would do when the whole of the Hideous was wiped out.

Caught Red by surprise, that.
He then asks Chamber what exactly he could do around Gargantia that would help the people around him.

When Chamber gave him a negative response, he refuted with Chamber as a comparison, saying if he could help, why not Red.

Laughed when Chamber said Red shouldn't compare himself to Chamber.

After that, Red tried to play the flute again, but to no avail.

Amy meets Red here and tries to play his flute too, although also to no avail.

After receiving his pay from Amy (from working, I suppose), Red confides in Amy regarding his worth around Gargantia if he couldn't help out with anything.

Amy then volunteers to ask around for work while she's off making deliveries.

So they set off.

And that's what we have here, with Amy bringing Red around wherever she delivers.

There was maintenance, but a new guy had apparently shown up and gotten to work already.

:(

Amy and Red then went to see if they needed any more fishermen.

Unfortunately, they didn't need anymore people so Red and Amy left.

They even went to visit Bellows, but there wasn't anything Red could do.

:(

Amy left him then because there was nothing else she could do for him.

So Red decided to continue on his own, finding jobs wherever his legs took him.

Nearly laughed my ass off when he was this close to cleaning cow dung for one of the farmers.

His search for a job stopped when Gargantia suddenly stopped. Panicking, he asked Chamber what was wrong. It turned out on days where there was no wind, Gargantia would stop and everyone would relax for the time being.

That said, Pinion decided to bring everybody out for a barbecue picnic after snagging a huge catch, with Amy, Red and Bebel.

After deciding on the location, Chamber arrived on the scene and Amy met her friends, Melty and Saaya

They marvelled at the view for a while before anything else :)

Getting an idea, Amy and her friends decide to get into their bikinis and play in the ocean.

They then coax Red into doing the same.

I won't deny it. Seeing Red topless was definitely a treat :P

Obviously Amy, Saaya and Melty thought so too.

Haha~

Sigh... The girl in me :P

Just as Pinion finished slicing the meat off his catch, however, he realises that there was no electricity

Seeing an opportunity, Red asks Chamber to, apparently, "incinerate" them.

Hence, the pictures on the right :P

Before anything else happened, Pinion asks Red to get something from somewhere.

Red, wanting to prove he was of some worth, took it with a determined nod.

He then set off to wherever was written on the piece of paper Pinion gave him.

Trust me, this was definitely the highlight of this episode.

Red, running away from transvestites.

At that point of time, Amy received a request from Ridget.

She and her friends then used their sail surfboards to get the job done.

Here we have the continuation of Red running away from the three persistent transvestites.

Trust me, they piss me off too, but it really made me laugh out loud :P

Thankfully for him, Amy and her friends were headed to the top of the tower. Amy rescues him and they resume the race to the top.

When Red smiles, he's really cute :)

Turns out Amy's job was to turn on the sprinklers on top of the tower.

T'was really pretty :)

Unfortunately, Red had to get back to what he really needed to do (which was to run that errand for Pinion).

Yes, that meant going through the three transvestites again (as I'm sure you've deduced from the kiss marks on Red's face and body).

Ugh~ I still hate them.

Either way, all's well that ends well. They enjoyed the barbecue (which ended up being a party because Ridget and Bellows invited everybody when they found out :P).

Not to mention, Pinion was very creative with using Chamber as a barbecue grill.

O.O

Splendid episode, entertainment-wise, as usual. I liked that this week focused on more fun things rather than just work, work, work and space, space, space. Plus, I used to dislike Pinion, but after finding out that (SPOILER ALERT!) he did it because Red was feeling down, my opinion of him improved by much.

Not to mention, and this is the girl in me speaking, I got to see Red topless :P

I'm sure a lot of girls are fangirl-ing right now just thinking back on it.

I know I am >.<

I also love the surfboards. I mean, how cool was that?? Those boards (SPOILER ALERT!) turned into, like, mini-aeroplanes halfway

T'is a real pity we haven't invented that -.-

Still wondering about what Red will do, however. I mean, until now, there hasn't been an actual reference to how the Galactic Alliance has been doing since Red fell to Earth.

And, honestly speaking(?), I'm seriously doubting 13 episodes can thoroughly cover the whole story behind Suisei no Gargantia.

Despite that, I'm still greatly anticipating the next episode :D

Suisei no Gargantia Ep 4

I'm sorry this is a week late. I haven't been editing the photos so I couldn't upload them :D Either way, here's the episode review for:

Suisei no Gargantia Ep 4

Suisei no Gargantia
The Flute of Recollection

Now where did we stop last week?

Oh right, Red fends off the pirates!!

Anyway, after the last episode, Chamber and Red begin working with the people of Gargantia for the time being :)

Things weren't going well, however, because while Chamber's great help, he's too huge. And whenever he starts flying with that swirly thing on top of his head, things around him begin to move too.

That becomes a problem for the Gargantia people.

But Red still got paid for all his help, as you can see from the image's bottom right picture :)

This is actually a flashback regarding the invoice because Red was pretty confused with what its function is.

Haha~

Over here we have Amy flying off to make several more deliveries.

Lemme explain why Red is sitting alone in the bottom left picture, eh? Since Chamber can't fly, the people decided Red didn't need to control him. So technically, Red's just observing Chamber's work while doing his carving thing on Hideous' fang.

Obviously, Pinion (the Blondie) misunderstood.
Here Amy is wondering what exactly Red is trying to achieve by burning holes into the fang.

Surprisingly, Red replies that he doesn't know.

O.O

He offers it to Amy since she seems to take joy in its beauty

She then invites him on a walk with her.

Soon they started talking about Bebel, Amy's younger brother, and how he'd love to meet Red.

Red said he doesn't know what a brother is, however, which astonishes Amy.

Either way, they talk a little bit more before going on. Amy then decides to introduce him to a doctor she knew whom might help him understand their ways and get back to space.

 And here he is! Dr...

Dr...

Snap, I forgot.

They talk about very complicated stuff here, though, and since I don't want to spoil too much for you, I'll just leave it at that.

:D
After Red's talk with the doctor, Amy brought Red to her house where he officially met Bebel.

They instantly start talking, about various things.

Pretty deep too, the stuff they talked about. Once again, shan't spoil it for you, so I'll stop there.

:)

They returned to Gargantia after Red's long talk with Bebel.

Red's carving the fang again when Bellows speaks to him about why he looked so glum. He replies it's because he feels so insignificant.

She refutes his statement with a reference to the pirate attack but he seems indifferent.

 That's when it started raining

O.O

Not having experienced rain before, Red panics, but Bellows handles the situation by ordering him to gather to rain.

Here are more snippets of the people of Gargantia gathering fresh water for their daily activities.

They seem to enjoy bathing in the rain too.

Haha~

I wanna bathe in the rain too :(

O.O

Back at Amy's house, Red is drying off when Bebel mentions that Amy received the fang thingy from Red earlier that morning.

Bebel deduces that it's actually a flute and starts playing.

To his surprise...
 ...

Red starts crying!!

O.O

After a flashback, tears start rolling down Red's cheek, despite not knowing why.

Bebel, no doubt, was shocked beyond anything else and immediately stops playing, but Red assures him that it was nothing.

Amy interrupts here and offers Red a cup of tea before he leaves.

That night, with Chamber, Red ends the episode by concluding that he needs to find out more about the culture and traditions on Gargantia.

So that's what happened this week :)

Despite loving the part where Red reveals his softer side by crying, I still didn't think this episode said much about the development of the series. If anything, it served only as an excuse for Red to stay on Earth to research more on Gargantia and "Earth".

My opinion, of course.

I like Bebel, however. He's very intuitive and insightful (as you probably know from his conversation with Red). He doesn't talk about nonsense and the stuff he says are legit. Even the doctor said that if Red needed to know anything about space, it was Bebel who could help him.

As usual, this episode left me craving more, despite whatever slightly negative remarks I gave :P

Wee~

Good thing the week passed fast, because I'm reviewing the next episode next!! :P

Aal Ameen @ Singapore

Okay, so lately, I've been down to Singapore to watch my sister's senior recital in YST. The next day, she brought us to this Indian place for a small snack-slash-dinner. I'm not sure what the place is called but from its name on the menu, here's the review for:

Aal Amaan!!

So here's a picture of the cover of the restaurant's menu

Just to clear things up: No, that's not all that the restaurant offers. I just didn't have the patience to take a picture of every single page in the menu -.-

Make do with whatever I took, okay?
Top left: Butter chicken. A definite must-have when you decide to go there.

Top right: Palak Paneer. Yeah, when I know what the heck that means, I'll type it here but for now, it's "the green stuff".

Bottom left: Mixed Platter Chicken. Not to say it's delicious, but it's not bad either.

Bottom right: Butter Naan, Plain Naan & Cheese Naan. All in 1 basket. Sure, don't worry, we know which is which -.-

Top left: Black Pepper Beef. According to my brother, it's really good

Top right: Yam Shake. I'm not a fan of yam-flavoured food/drinks but I'm guessing it wasn't bad. The marshmallows were a nice touch.

Bottom left: Teh Tarik. No comment.

Bottom right: Chicken Pataya. Really good stuff. The egg was well cooked and complemented the enveloped fried rice.

This is just a collage of the exterior and interior of the restaurant. It was right by the roadside so there were no air conditioners :)

All in all:

4/5 for Service.

The waiters (because the majority were men) were very attentive. They are vigilant, to say the least, and I would have given this a perfect rating except they were slow in action

For example, I ordered a cup of iced water when they took our orders. However, it never came. When I asked for it a second time (after a while), they still failed to give it to me. I had to ask for it another couple of times (with help from my dad) before I finally got to drink anything -.-

But I still gave this 4/5 because they were very alert. For example, when a family friend of ours was fanning herself to keep warm, a waiter offered to switch the fan on.

4/5 for Food.

The gravy/curry was good. The only thing I found missing was in the food itself. I didn't really like it because it tasted quite bland. That is, of course, only my opinion. Other people seemed to enjoy it, so...

-.-

The rice dishes like the Black Pepper Beef and the Chicken Pataya were really good though.

5/5 for Cleanliness.

I don't have a particular comment for this. The tables weren't sticky upon entry and the floor was generally clean. Not a lot of rubbish.

3/5 for Ambience.

The place was only a small area so it was quite tight-squeezed. Also, fans were used so there wasn't much ventilation. Nothing too serious though.

4/5 for Price.

Ahh~ Like I said, no perfect rating for price :P Either way, the prices are reasonable but it would be a bit pricey if converted to Malaysian Ringgit.

Well, to sum it all up, I wouldn't mind a second visit (I wanna try their Oreo Shakes :P). Unfortunately, they didn't have a restaurant card so I couldn't get any details such as addresses or phone numbers :( I just know it's in Singapore :P

That's about it, then. CIAO!!

Solitaire Blitz

Whoo~ Finally, another Application review! It's been a while since my Dragon Story™ one, after all :)

So anyways, from:
We have:

Solitaire Blitz
(click on the pictures to enlarge them)

Technically, this is what you're supposed to see when you click on the App icon. Nothing fancy, just a "Solitaire Blitz" logo and a pirate starfish rolling its way to the other side of the loading bar -.-

The above picture on the left is what you'll see at the end of the game, actually. The thing is, that was the first picture I took when the App opened so...

:P

Anyways, the bottom picture is one where you get to select "boosts" in exchange for the silver you collect at the end of the game. You can choose a maximum of 3 boosts from the four that you are offered.

I'll get to how that works later.
As you can see from the top left picture, the standard time you get is 90 seconds

The deck opens with a card. The objective of this game is to finish up the cards on the bottom half of the top left pic by clicking on cards which come before/after it and so on.

For example, with the "J" that you see in the top left picture, you can click on "10", then "9", then "8" and then "7".

Once you no longer have any other cards which come before or after that card, then you draw a new card from the deck. When you've completed all that, you'll see the picture on the top right (without the "3-game streak", of course. That was me :P)

The two bottom pictures are your "rewards". Each denotes a certain amount of silver ranging from $5 to $3000 and above. These are the silver that you use to buy "boosts"

The one with Extra Time gives you extra time (mostly half a minute extra).

The Starting Joker allows you to draw any card from your deck as a starting card.

The Bonus Fish gives you a bonus (duh).

And the Key Magnet allows all the "keys" to appear in your starting deck. If you collect all the keys, you are able to unlock more decks so you may finish the game faster.

That's pretty much it for this game. It's more of a speed game because it tests your mind to see if you know which card comes before/after which card

It gets more and more fun as you get the hang of which card to put forth :)

This game is compatible with the iPhone (from 3GS+), iPod Touch (3rd Gen+), and the iPad series (goes for the Mini as well), although the App is generally optimized for the iPhone 5. It requires the iOS 4.3 or later and is rated 4+.

All in all:

5/5 for Artwork.
I love the cute little mermaid that comes to "bestow" your rewards unto you :P Beautiful graphics and adorable animations that help make this a more enjoyable game. Blue-themed as well, so it's easy on the eyes, rather than a nauseating shade of fuchsia pink -.-

3/5 for Gameplay.
I'm giving this a medium rating because you don't really enjoy this game unless you know exactly how to play it. I've been playing Solitaire for so long that it's natural for me to know what comes after what card so for me it's fun :)

However, if you don't mind playing like a noob then you'll find this game quite challenging :)

5/5 for Items.
One word = Fantastic.

For one, I don't have to use any money at all in this game, although there are in-app purchases available. That's because every time I play, I get more and more silver which I can use to purchase all those boosts. You literally spend no money at all playing this game.

Which is, once again, fantastic.

To sum it all up, this game is free and addictive, although there is only one tiny annoying bit about it. That would be the fact that you can only play it five times at one go. It's got that stupid "energy" thing which takes 10 minutes to earn -.-

I'm not sure if this is available for Android phones, but you can find out more about this App here!!

That's about it, then :) CIAO!!
